Customer name: This is the name of the customer organisation or the company.
Account type: This has to be selected as a ‘customer account’ for real customer organisations. If you are creating a demo account or for a POC then you can select any of the other options.
Country:  Select the country of the organisation where it is located.
Customer type:  This can be selected as ‘office’.
Customer Setup: Select “Software customer” whenever organisation needs software modules to be enabled like Access/Attendance etc,in this case a gateway is required for the devices to talk to our SW via the gateway
Select “Credential customer” whenever user buys an OTB device which will be only connected to controller over wiegand and OSDP and user credentials to access. In this case the Spintly gateway is not required and also the devices need not be provisioned and configured in the mesh network
Site name & site location: This is the name of the site or the building where the installation will be done. The location can be specified as the city or area name.
Site timezone: As per where the site is located select the correct timezone.
Network name: Name the network created under the site. This name can be based on where the gateway under this site will be placed, for example - first floor.

  • Click on ‘Add customer’ once all the required information is entered.

Once a customer is created, the partner can click on the customer organisation name and start doing the setup under this customer as per the installation requirements.

3.2 About Spintly device serial numbers

All Spintly devices have a unique 14-digit serial number. This serial number allows you to add the device using the partner application. You will find this serial number pasted on one of the sides of the device. The image below is for reference.

3.3 Adding an Access Point (Door)

An access point is a type of door; it can be an internal swing door or can be a flap barrier or an outdoor gate. Any type of entry point is called an access point in Spintly software terms.

  • Click on the Customers tab >> Click the customer organisation name you have created.
  • You will see the overview tab which shows you the organisation details, total users, gateways, repeaters, access points, readers, and site for this particular organisation.
  • Click on the ‘Access point tab’ >> Click Add Access point from the top right corner to add a new Access point or a door. Refer to the below screenshot.

Use With Controller -Enable this whenever you use third party controller with reader .Keep it disable if you are using reader in stand alone condition

Site Name : You can select the site name from the drop-down here based on where you are doing the installation.

Configuration - You can select the type of installation configuration

  • Entry Only : This configuration applies to the entry-side device and the exit-side push button. After selection, enter the entry device Name >> enter serial number.
  • Entry and Exit reader: Select this configuration in the case when you have 2 readers, one at the entry side and the other at the exit side.

After selection, enter the entry and exit devices serial number .

  • Entry + Exit Controller: Select this configuration if you have Spintly NUOS or Any Spintly controller is connected with readers .
  • Clock-in device: This option is selected only to set up an attendance clock-in device. After selection, enter the entry device serial number and click on ‘add’.
  • Door lock: Select this configuration in case you have a Spintly door lock to install.

Credential Settings - This is the credential types you want to add , select all and click on next.

Settings - Enter the type of locking mechanism .

  Relay Settings

  • Relay on time - This setting is used to control relay timing of readers. You can set time according to the client requirement.
  • Invert relay logic- Enabling this changes the logic of the relay and you will have to wire fail-safe locks to NO and fail-secure to NC. This will unlock the doors if the Spintly reader/controller fails. It means the NO and the NC will have to be interchanged when the invert logic is enabled .
  • NO will be changed to NC .
  • NC will be changed to NO .
  • Enable door sensor- This setting will enable door sensor on unit level. You can use NO or NC according to what connections you have used of door sensors

Note - For Entry Exit Configuration these will be option to enable Attendance in step 5 . If Client needs to enable Attendance module for this Accesspoint you will need to enable it or else keep it disable.

Click on add once all settings are done.

Done! Accesspoint will be added to your organisation.

All these access point readers once added will show till it gets connected with the Spintly gateway for which it has to be configured from the partner mobile app.

3.4 Adding a gateway

The gateway is the central device, similar to a controller that connects with the access points over the BLE  mesh network and connects to the Spintly cloud over the internet. Each installation site needs a minimum of one gateway.

  • Click on the Customers tab >> Click the customer organisation name you just created
  • Click on the ‘Gateways tab’ >> Click Gateway from the top right corner to add a new Gateway by first selecting the site where the gateway will be installed and then entering its serial number as labelled on the Gateway. Refer to the below screenshot

Once the gateway is added to the organisation, it will show offline if it's not yet connected to the internet. To connect the gateway to Wi-Fi, follow the steps below.

How to connect the Spintly gateway to your Wi-Fi?

You can follow the quick steps below to get it connected to your Wi-Fi. But for a detailed guide, you can follow the gateway user manual from the box.

  • Power on the gateway with the included adaptor and wait until the status & Wi-Fi LED start blinking in purple.
  • As shown in the image below, identify and then keep the configuration button pressed on the gateway till the status LED turns red. Now, wait for this LED to start blinking red slowly.

  • Open Wi-Fi on your PC or phone and search for Wi-Fi access points.
  • Connect to the access point named ‘spintly-gateway’. Use the password spintly#321$
  • Once connected, it will show “No Internet” because this connection is used only for configuration and does not provide internet access.

  • On the configuration page, from available Wi-Fi networks select your desired Wi-Fi network to which you want Spintly gateway to connect.
  • Once selected, enter your Wi-Fi password and then submit. A Gateway restart prompt will appear on the page. Click ‘restart’ on that page.
  • Now if the Wi-Fi password entered is correct, the gateway will connect to your network. Ensure that the network firewall allows outbound communication on required ports (for example HTTPS/443 and MQTT as applicable) and does not block the gateway’s access to the internet . If a proxy or restricted network is used, whitelist the gateway MAC/IP and required domains. The Status and Bluetooth LED indicators should be solid blue. The middle Wi-Fi indicator will show colour as per the signal strength. Refer below table for indications and the gateway user manual for more details.

3.5 Adding Sites and networks

The site is about defining places where the customer locations are. The first site is added while creating the customer organisation. You can create multiple sites under the organisations based on all locations the customer has Spintly installations.

Under each site, you can have multiple networks defined which helps in case you are adding more than one gateway under the site.

  • Under the customer you have created, Click on the ‘Site tab’ >> Click Add Site from the top right corner to add a new Site by entering the Site name & the Location of this Site.
  • Create the network with familiar names like First Floor or NetF1 which will help you to identify where the gateway is placed.

Note: When you are adding devices under the network, make sure you choose the correct network based on which gateway you want the devices to communicate with which you will be adding.

3.6 Add a Mesh-IO

Mesh-IO is an input-output device that provides a scalable approach for different types of hardware integrations. For example Mesh-IO can be connected to the building fire panel to detect fire events and open the doors. Mesh-IO is also used as a ‘repeater’ to increase the range of the Spintly mesh network in case there is a ‘range-gap’ in the mesh.

  • Click on the Customers tab >> Search and click to select the customer organisation.
  • Click on the ‘MESH I/O ’ >> Click ‘Add MESH I/O’  from the top right corner to add a new MESH-IO.
  • Enter Mesh IO name >> Enter the serial number which is printed on it.
  • Select the site where the device is getting installed and select the proper network under it based on which gateway you want mesh-IO to communicate.

3.7 Fire Panel Integration

From this tab you can enable different types of available hardware integration for the organisation. For example, follow the steps below to enable fire integration.

  • Click on the Customers tab >> Search and select the customer organisation.
  • Click on the ‘Hardware Integration’ >> Enable Fire Integration >> Click ‘Create fire panel’.

  • Enter the fire panel name based on its location example, Ravel_1st floor
  • Then select the site where the Mesh-IO is getting installed.

  • Once you specify the site click on Add Mesh I/O

  • Then click on “Show details.” You will see four available channels. Select one channel or the required channels as per your setup.

  • This selected pin can be then connected to the fire panel input dry contacts to send a trigger.
  • Once you select the pin click ‘create’, this will define the fire panel and map the selected Mesh- IO channel pins to it.
